Why is Accountability So Important
There are many differences between
life coaching and therapy. One of those differences is the issue of
accountability. In life coaching the client is believed to have the answers to
his or her problems are within them and not in the knowledge of the therapist.
A good life coach is effective by asking good questions which helps the
client come up with his or her right answers.
A way to achieve accountability is
through customized writing assignments that the client is responsible for. The
client must follow through and complete assignments before next appointment.
As a Life Coach I work very hard to
fit specific questions to my clients. If my questions are not good then the
client will not come up with his or her right answers and the forward process
will stall. In order to be on the same page as my clients, I sometimes have to
give them an assignment to define a word. Defining words is important because
everyone’s definitions varies in one form or another. So to help him or her
progress, I feel I need to work off my client’s definition and not my
definition.
Clients come up with some of his or
her own great definitions with accurate perception. Here is an example of a
great definition done on a word by one of my clients on a very important
concept. I think this word we fight with and affects all of us in our daily
lives. That word is accountability.
So what is accountability? Good
question. I found this particular definition to be interesting with the
way it was expressed and I hope will enlighten many more people.
The exact question to the client
was:
“What does it mean to be
accountable?”
The client answered the question
simply in her own way.
“Accountability to me is living
up to a standard moral code that’s ingrained in my subconscious mind from
nature not nurture. It is the acknowledgement and assumption of responsibility
for my actions. Accountability is a system of integrity that suppresses impulsiveness.
It means that I am liable for my own destiny and culpable for the wrong
decisions. Accountability and responsibility are guidelines for progress as I
evolve spiritually, morally and mentally. It is doing what is right no matter how
unfamiliar or hard it is to do.”

4 Tips to Help You Shift a Negative Mindset
Mindset is a concept that is talked a lot about
in the helping profession lately. Funny thing about mindset is that everyone has one. In fact everyone has many mindsets and trade back and forth throughout the day.
What is a Mindset?
Simply a mindset is a fixed mental attitude. Mindsets come in all sorts of types and styles. A mindset can be fluid, or rigid. A mindset can be comfortable belief or an uncomfortable mental habit. It can be positive or judgmental of yourself or others.

Mindset can be a barrier
Hanging onto old mindsets can create many physical and mental problems, such as anxiety, blame, bitterness, fear, negativity, physical pain, resentments, stress, shame, sleeplessness and worry. Old mindsets can keep you boxed into old prejudice attitudes and thoughts.

Triggers affect your Mindset
Old mindsets can be triggered by situations. They can also be activated by the actions, comments or beliefs of others. Over time a mindset results in poor physical health as well as a decrease in our mental and emotional health and performance. A mindset simply is a deep seated attitude based on old perceptions, beliefs or prejudices that were told, taught or forced on us. One thing clear is that a mindset is generally another person's expectations or bias. Growing up in my generation, it was taught to take others mindsets, such as parents, teachers, coaches, policemen, etc., with blind faith. Never to ask questions. Functioning in life under another person's mindset does not work and causes deep feelings of unhappiness, disappointment and a feeling of being trapped.

4 Tips to Help You Shift an Old Mindset to Positive
1. Stop ruminating by literally stopping what you are doing
and take 4 deep breaths. During those 4 breathes, focus on the air coming in to
your lungs and then being released.
2. Reclaim your personal authority by forming a new positive
mindset to replace the negative attitude and replace it with a positive mindset.
3. Create a new belief to support and validate your newly
formed mindset.
4. Conscious take ownership of the new mindset by making a
promise to accept it.
After Thoughts

3 Ways to Benefit from Your Mistakes
Have you ever made a mistake? Everyone has. Yet after making mistakes you become so frightened or apprehensive to make another mistake
for fear of what might happen? It also causes you to second guess everything you do after that point.
Society has become so performance orientated and focused that many shy away
from risking new things or learning new skills and causes you to stay with only familiar and comfortable things even it they are bad for you. You may become
so afraid of making a mistake that you just don't venture into new experiences
and keep you in a rut. In fact you may isolate yourself from experiences to stop any future possibility of making
another mistake.
Is not getting
involved with life a mistake also?
The more afraid you are of making a mistake, the less
willing you will be of taking a risk, the more restricted you are, you become rigid and end up stuck. You actually create a pattern that can cause you to be less involved with
other people, situations and you learn less. If you shy away from trying new things or not taking
risks, you deprive your Soul of the nutriments needed to grow and thrive.
Could your mistakes be
positive?
Making a mistake is normal part of life. No one is perfect. Making
a mistake can be very positive. If you don’t make a mistake when you attempt
something new then how do you learn. Each different experience, task or
situation should bring something beneficial to your character.
Remember all the times growing up when you were so afraid to
join in playing with others kids for fear of being embarrassed, ridiculed for
not performing as well as others or just plain not being good enough. Look at
all you lost out on. Don’t let that happen now. Accept and embrace your
mistakes for what they can bring to your life.
Therefore don't let past incidents of mistakes determine who
you are as a person or a barrier to your future. We all make mistakes. Without
mistakes there is no way you can learn or make positive changes. If you are always right
and do everything perfectly then you have no reason to get out of bed. Isn't
that sad? So you cannot allow mistakes to define who you are.
3 Ways to Benefit
from a Mistake
Remind yourself every time you make a mistake to ask
yourself these three questions.
1. What did I learn?
2. What can I do differently next time?
3. How did
this make me better as a person?

Imagination is the Power to Success
"All change stems from our
imagination. Imagination is capable of turning mind energy into a vision
and success." --Dr Bill
“How do I change my life in a
positive way?”
Simply use your
imagination. Imagination is one of our most powerful tools available to
you. Imagination is the one thing within you, as a human, that gives you
the amazing ability to "create" anything you want. Think about
it. Your imagination can truly assist us in creating something new?
Everything that you has been created in the world has stemmed from the seed in
someone's imagination. Everyone has this ability.
How to Change?
In order to access our imagination
we have to spend time with our self.
Find a peaceful environment, get
quiet, be calm, and ask for guidance with or inspiration about a specific
desire or idea.
Focus on the desire or
idea and say it aloud, then remain quiet and calm...and notice the flow of
thoughts that come to mind.
Listen and hear the
answers in your head.
Write down all the answers. Do
not discount or rationalize any thoughts that come to mind.
Then, rest in the faith that our
imagination generates additional ideas and solutions. Know that imagination
possesses all the energy needed to continue generating more ideas and solutions
on the way to accomplishing success in our lives.
Believe, have faith and
harvest the rewards. The more you practice the easier success will come and our
imagination will open to its abundance.

Addiction and Self Love
The reason that people become addicted to substances, behaviors, thoughts or emotions is because they do not love yourself fully.
If you are seeking change or healing through a substance, a behavior, a thought, or a feeling to alter who you are, you are searching in the wrong place. "I just do not like myself", "I want to be different" is something I hear from people all the time. The only way you change and heal yourself is from within not from something or someone else on the outside.
Improve the relationship with self and learn the good things about you rather than comparing yourself to others. Self is all you have.
If you do not love yourself you will not do anything positive for yourself. Start a new relationship with self. Self love is your answer.

10 Guidelines for a Healthier Body and Mind
One of the good aspects of Life coaching is that I get to
work with a person as a whole. I mean every aspects of them. Not only do I
assist a client to look at his or her issues, intentions, goals, barriers,
relationships, performance skills but also career, health and exercise as well
as nutrition because they work together to make a life. A person cannot be
separated into parts, but as a whole system. If you just work on one aspect
then some other aspect of his or her life is out of balance.
So in this blog, I would like to address healthy nutrition and shift into a healthier mindset.
With a world or fast food, processed food and larger than life portions at
restaurants, everyone is concerned about their weight and health.
Here are some useful guidelines for healthy eating and
helping your body make a positive change. These suggestions can increase your
awareness in the area of nutrition and if followed, they can better your
physical and mental life.
1. Spicy Food
Want to wake up your metabolism. Include chilies, and hot peppers (Cherry, Anaheim, Jalapeno, etc.) in menu and your cooking. Any type of pepper containing Capsaicin. Capsaicin naturally melts fat cells in your body. Spicy foods will naturally cause you to eat less.

2. Detoxing Water Drinks
No matter how “clean” of a life a you lead, eating healthy, frequent exercise, good sleep, and regular stress relief, a body is likely to show evidence of accumulated toxicity. Regular detoxing is extremely important to good health. Purifying drink waters can help your body to rid itself of some of these toxins, while also giving your body a chance to reset, repair and regroup.

Regular detoxing is extremely important to good health. Purifying drink waters can help your body to rid itself of some of these toxins, while also giving your body a chance to reset, repair and regroup.
Here is two suggestions that will help you to detox your
body.
First is lemon water. First thing in the morning, heat up a
1/2 a cup of water and squeeze in a half a lemon. Drink and wait for a 1/2 hour
before eating or drinking anything. One drop of hot sauce would enhance flavor.
This will help detox the body.
Second is Ginger water. Cut finely a few slices of ginger (root)
and place in with boiling water for about ten minutes and drink 1/2 of cup of
the water is has cooled down. The pungent compounds found in ginger water boost
your energy level. At the same time it purifies your body.
Wait 30 minute
before drinking or eating anything else.
3. Get Plenty of Sleep
Put down your electronics...computer, tablet, and cell
phone....as well as turn off the TV when you go to bed. It is recommended you
get at least six to eight hours of sleep per night. Sleep benefits the body in
many ways and breaks down unwanted weight fastest. US research studies has
shown that every hour of sleep before midnight is worth 2 hours after midnight.
U.S. research studies found: During sleep, our metabolism is
running at full throttle.
4. Cut Out Carbohydrates in the Evening
Cut out carbohydrate - rich foods such as potatoes products,
bread, rice, pasta and bread sticks for dinner. The highest rate
of fat burn is at night. So the more carbohydrates you eat after 4:00 pm the
harder it is for your body to get rid of it. What would be better would be meals
in the evenings are contain fish or lean meats with salad (with low salt and low
fat salad dressings).
Think about giving up white flour and wheat products for
your health. Current wheat seeds have been mutated and are one of the major
contributors to obesity. Flour and wheat products are not the same as back in
the 1960s and have more powerful damaging result on your body.
5. Stay Away from Processed Foods
Processed food are any food treated to preserve, enhance the
flavor, lengthen its shelf life or change the texture, in such foods as
processed meats, packaged baked goods, and frozen dinners. Processed food can
cause weight gain quickly, increase high blood sugar, increase possibility for diabetes
and heart disease.
Cooking from scratch at home can take longer but is so much healthier.
6. Cut
Out Sugar
Stop eating sugar or sugar substitute products. These products cause the Adrenal glands to produce adrenaline to neutralize the ingested sugar. Sugar substitute products actually fake out the body. The body thinks it is getting a lot of sugar and produces a large amounts of adrenaline to counter act it. Since the body is left with the produced adrenaline, the body yearns for more food to reduce the surplus adrenaline. So avoid diet products. Diet products are not the answer to losing weight and can prompt your body to eat more. USDA research studies show that artificial sweeteners suppress metabolism and can trigger food cravings.
6. Adopt a No Dinner Day
Consider not eating one dinner once a week. Just drink
only calorie-free drinks throughout the evening, such as mineral water or
unsweetened tea or green tea. This will not only shed the pounds, but also
slows down your aging process.
7. Don't Miss Breakfast
Don't skip breakfast under any circumstances.
Eating breakfast in the morning is good for your body and kicks up metabolism rate and burns calories over the entire day.

8. Water is your Body's Best Friend
Water is your body's main chemical component and makes up
60% of your body weight. Every cell in a human's body needs water. 2/3 of
body is consists of water, and it is the main component of human body. The
brain consists 90% water. Water helps to keep fluid levels up without
adding additives and restrains hunger. It also increases hydration and the
energy consumption. Every day you lose water through your breath, sweat,
urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must
replenish its water supply.
How much? For your body to function properly and
health of your skin, you must replenish its water supply. Suggestion
is that you drink at least 1 gallon of water and eat food which contains water.
You will burn around 100 calories extra just by drinking water.
Eating foods that have large volume of water and less
calories, such as vegetables, soups and fruits will make the stomach fill full
without adding fat.
9. Leave Snacks in the Snack Machines
Give up eating snacks between meals, especially if you are a diabetic. Nibbling from a snack machine daily or often increases your insulin level, which will inhibit fat loss.

10. Vigorous Daily Walking or Exercise
Walk, walk and walk some more. Walking daily for at least 30
to 45 minutes a day can influence your health positively, increase weight lose
by raising metabolism rate, reduce stress and enhances mood by increasing
endorphins in your brain. Your skin is an important route of elimination,
and your body is capable of removing many toxins through your sweat. Vigorous
walking and exercise can help your body to sweat more while also enhancing
blood flow to remove toxins through your skin.

Positive Change is a Risk
Life experiences and the formed beliefs related to them have a tendency to cause a closing of the mind over time and dilutes clarity of thought. Don't get trapped in old beliefs that block attempts at success.
A positive
change is not made by wondering what you could have done differently in the
past or an intense need worry about how to fix what you did wrong or situations that went wrong. You making positive change is also not made by worrying
what is to come in the future. Positive change can only be created and accomplished
in the moment with clear thinking.
Many people spend their time projecting and preparing for what might
happen in the future. Others center their attention on the past and lose his or
her focus as well as drive. Meanwhile what is happening in the moment is totally lost.
To make a positive
change requires taking a risk do new things which were thought to be
impossible. Positive change is creating through risking new thought, envisioning
what is wanted, and experiencing what the success of achieving the intention would
feel like. Adopt a new mindset that everything is possible.
Life is
truly fleeting. What is here right now will disappear in a flash and then we
will wonder where it went. So create in the moment and strive for the intended positive
change. Don't wait, life is ticking away.
Remember -
"Yesterday
is just a memory,
Today
is the moment,
Tomorrow
is an enigma"
